The classes of GNM/ B.Sc (N)/PBB.Sc (N)/M.Sc (N) will commence from 19th September 2016.
The Department of OBG in nursing organized and conducted CNE programme on 11 June 2016 at Vydehi Nursing College. The CNE topic is on Cervical Cancer and its prevention. More than 80 participants were attended this programme and they were nursing faculty, nursing staffs from Vydehi hospital and nursing students from Vydehi Nursing College(VINS). The programme began with invocation song by the nursing students. Ms Jovita, Lecturer, Dept of OBG welcomed the gathering. Dignitaries were lighted the lamp. The principal L.E. Madhumathi given inaugural address followed by topic presentation. Resource persons presented topics on Introduction about cervical cancer, causes and staging by Prof. (Mrs) Padma Priya S, Diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cervical cancer by Mrs. Srimathi, Lecturer, and Effects of cervical cancer during pregnancy by Mrs. Menaga, Asst.prof, VINS and RC. The programme was ended with vote of thanks by Mrs. Rajeswari, Lecturer, OBG Dept. VINS. Department is very much grateful to Management, VIMS and RC, principal, VINS and Nursing supervisors from Vydehi hospital and special thanks to PG I st and II nd year students and GNM students.
Programme was organized and conducted by department of OBG in nursing and III rd year B.sc Nursing students, VINS&RC on 6.04.2016 in obstetric and gynecology OPD under the guidance of Prof.(Mrs) Padmapriya,HOD, OBG Nursing Mrs.Menaga.P, Asst.professor,OBG Nursing. Around 15 pregnant mothers were actively participated in the programme.
Health education aspects were: Antenatal diet, diet plan, exercises during pregnancy, personal hygiene, travel, medication, and healthy habits. It was explained in Hindi and Kannada. Programme was successfully completed with participants cooperation followed by refreshments. The department is very much grateful to HOD of OBG in Vydehi Hospital and Principal ,VINS& RC for their support and constant encouragement.

Play therapy conducted by 3rd year B.Sc (N) students in Pediatric ward, Vydehi Hospital, on 01/04/2016
The Department of Medical Surgical Nursing conducted an exhibition on World Tuberculosis Day, March 24, 2016 at the lobby, Vydehi hospital. The theme for this year was “Unite to end tuberculosis.” The programme was inaugurated by Dr Alamelu, HOD of Tb and Chest and RNTCP Medical officer, Dr Bhaktavatsalam. The II nd year BSc (N) students and II nd year GNM students made exhibits in Multilanguage on various headings such as modes of transmission, clinical features, DOTS, prevention and management of complications following tuberculosis. The I st year PC BSc (N) and I st year MSc (N) Medical Surgical Nursing students presented a video on how to perform Bronchial hygiene and Deep Breathing Exercises. Patients and their attenders visited the exhibition between 10 am and 1 pm.
As a part of Community Health Nursing requirement, we student of 4th year BSc(N),2nd year post BSc(N) and 1st year MSc (N)students have conducted school health program on 17/3/2016 on Thursday at Government High School,Kattamnallur.
The School health program includes:
1) GROWTH MONITORING ( for this we checked height, weight of the school children)
2) EYE HEALTH (Eye check up was done by snellen chart)
3) BLOOD GROUPING (Blood group was checked for school children)
The school health programme was ended at around 1pm with distribution of refreshments to all the staff and school children.
