REPORT ON PULSE POLIO TRAINING

Event Title: Pulse Polio Training

Organized by: Department of Community Health Nursing and NSS Unit of Vydehi Institute of Nursing Sciences and Research Centre, Bangalore

Participants: 7 ^th Semester BSc Nursing Students, 1^st Sem BSc Nursing Students batch 1 and 2

Planning:

A Pulse polio training program under the National Health Program which was guided by our Principal Madam Prof. Dr. Jasmine Joseph, VINS & RC, Bangalore and with coordinated efforts of Department Of Community Health Nursing Prof. Asha Latha .S, HOD,  Prof .Veena NSS officer and Health inspector and Nursing faculty from PHC Siddapura the training date, time and venue was scheduled.

During the training:

The students attended the training regarding carrying out the Pulse Polio Program, the use of the vial, vial monitor, handling vaccine carrier and documentation of the children who received vaccine was discussed. The way to administer the vaccine and mark over the little finger for identification purpose. The vaccines were handed over to students to see and understand the VVM and the way how to mention on the house regarding the visit was discussed. The students cleared their doubts with the trainers

Outcome of the training program:

The Pulse Polio training session helped the students to gain understanding how to carry out and administer the vaccine, documentation and the way to do the home visit as part of the Pulse Polio Program.

Conclusion:

Based on the Pulse Polio Program the training helped the students to gain the practical knowledge about the activities to be carried out on the first day at the booth posting and next three days visiting home for vaccinating the under five children was discussed to the students.
