Event Title: Educational Visit to National Tuberculosis Institute

 Participants: 7th Semester BSc Nursing Students and 1 st MSc Nursing Students.

Program overview

The educational visit was planned under the guidance of our beloved Principal Mam Dr. Jasmine Joseph, Vydehi Institute Of Nursing Sciences and Research centre, Bangalore, by the faculties from Department of Community Health Nursing. The authorities of NTI were approached through mail and later the permission was received to take students in 2 batches on 12 th and 13 th of January 2026. Required arrangements were done and planned for the educational visit, which is the prescribed visit for the 7 th Sem Bsc Nursing students under the INC syllabus and for MSc nursing students  under ANP subject this visit was planned.

During the Visit:

The Community Health Nursing faculty Prof. Deepa accompanied first group of students on 12/01/26 , Prof. Asha Latha.S and Prof.Veena.J.V accompanied 2 nd group of students on 123/01/26 and facilitated to visit the NTI where in there was a complete explanation about the disease Tuberculosis, its spread in India, Revised National Tuberculosis control program, present focus to eradicate the disease, advanced medications, lab investigations, training and research was done by the Director of the institute. NTI mainly focuses on the training of the faculties, staff, lab technicians it is one the renowned national institute which always served the community and prevention of many cases from tuberculosis. The students visited the museum which exhibited different pictures that helped Nursing students to understand and gain knowledge regarding tuberculosis and its treatment, prevention and management. The faculties and students returned to the college after the visit.

Outcome of the visit to NTI:

The students had an opportunity to visit NTI, they understood the major activities of NTI and its contribution regarding Prevention and management of tuberculosis by attending the visit. Overall the educational visit was informative and useful.

Conclusion:

The visit to NTI was planned and needed arrangement was done to proceed for the visit. This visit was help for students to understand the activities carried out by government under RNTCP and corelate the interventions which they learn in their prescribed syllabus.
