Program overview

The training session was planned under the guidance of Dr. Jasmine Joseph, Principal, Vydehi Institution of Nursing Sciences and Research Centre, Bangalore. The Community Health Nursing Department faculties Prof.Asha Latha.S, HOD, Prof.Veena.J.V, NSS officer, and Prof.Deepa planned out the session with the VASA coordinator. Date, time and number of students per group was fixed. Articles and necessary dummy was arranged.

During the training:

The training was on 9 th of January and students were split into 2 groups for the training. The session started with a brief introduction regarding Family Planning, methods and IUD types. The training was carried for group one by Mrs. Asha Latha. S and Mrs. Veena.J.V, carried out the training for another group. The articles were arranged prior to the procedure, the dummy was much apt so the procedure demonstrated was easy for the students to understand. The training in the VASA lab was effective and useful for the students.

Outcome of the training program:

The training in such well-equipped lab with suitable dummy for the demonstration was very good experience students learnt the procedure step by step and understood the use of the instruments used in the procedure and dummy was so flexible it made the procedure demonstration very much interesting. Students gained knowledge and understanding regarding the steps and procedure of Insertion and Removal of IUD -copper T.

Conclusion:

The program was arranged with the cooperation, coordination of the faculties at VASA. The Nursing faculties of Vydehi Institute of nursing sciences and research centre helped the students to undergo the training successfully.
