Department

The Department of Community Health Nursing is involved training of under-graduate and post-graduate and diploma in nursing students in the field of Community Health Nursing.

ydehi Institute of medical sciences has adopted Mallasandra PHC under the Arogya Bandhu scheme as its rural centre. Our management inaugurated a rural sub centre the Kannamangala Health centre in 2013 which is around 6kms from Vydehi. Kannamangala health centre has its own building with OPD, inpatient facilities, Pharmacy, Minor OT and injection room. We are in the process of upgrading it to a 24X7 health center with all basic facilities. The urban health centre is at Ulsoor. The students are posted in from October to June on rotation every year as per their requirements

Activities of the Department

In addition to meeting the requirements the students conduct many other programmes. We celebrate all national and international health days like population day, AIDS day, Diabetic Day etc by conducting seminars, rallys , health check ups etc
Health education is provided through puppet shows, role plays etc.
Physical assseement is done at the homes and at the health centres. Morbidity clinics, ANC, PNC, Immunization clinics etc are also conducted
We conduct ‘School Health programme’ in different schools and educated the students regarding various health topics like personnel hygiene, menstrual hygiene, dental hygiene, balanced diet etc.
We are invited by urban schools and other schools to conduct health education and also to educate the teachers about first aid, emergency etc.

LABORATORY

Community lab is equipped with all the articles and necessary requirements for fulfilling the requirements of the curriculum. We have adequate community bags, models, A.V Aids and health education materials which the student can utilize in the community.
