Official Report: Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony – 26th February 2026
The Lamp Lighting Ceremony for the 23rd batch of B.Sc. Nursing students of Vydehi Institute of Nursing Sciences and Research Centre (VINS & RC) and the 2nd batch of VSH Nursing College was held with pride and solemnity on 26th February 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The lamp lighting ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of the following dignitaries:
- Reena Ravi, Principal of Sri Sri Institute of Nursing Sciences and Research Center – Chief Guest
- Major Ushashree Kumar (Rtd), COO, Vydehi Group of Institutions
- D V Chalapathy, COO, VSH
- Jasmine Joseph, Principal, VINS & RC
- Kavitha Reddy, Principal of VSH Nursing College
The ceremony commenced with a formal procession of the budding nurses, followed by an invocation song rendered by the college choir team, invoking divine blessings for the auspicious occasion. Dr. Kavitha Reddy, Principal of VSH Nursing College, formally welcomed the dignitaries, parents, faculty members and students. The dignitaries lit the traditional lamp to formally inaugurate the ceremony.
Prof. Menaga P, HOD, OBG Nursing, highlighted the significance of the Lamp Lighting Ceremony, emphasizing its importance in shaping the professional journey of the nursing students.
The lighting of the Florence Nightingale Lamp was initiated by the Chief Guest, and the flame was passed on to the dignitaries and subsequently to the budding nurses, symbolizing the transmission of knowledge and professional responsibility.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Reena Ravi, Principal of Sri Sri Institute of Nursing Sciences and Research Center administered the Oath, during which the students solemnly pledged to uphold the ethics and values of the nursing profession. The Chief Guest delivered a thought-provoking address, in which she emphasized “Medicine cure disease, but the nurses heal loneliness and fear”. Dr. Reena encouraged the students to uphold the values of respect, dignity, compassion, and empathy, urging them to treat every patient with kindness and professionalism.
Major Ushashree Kumar, COO, Vydehi Group of Institutions appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee. She extended her warm greetings and best wishes to the students on behalf of the management. Dr. Jasmine Joseph, Principal, VINS & RC, presented the college annual report, highlighting the academic achievements and significant milestones.
Certificates, trophies and medals were awarded to students who secured top ranks and distinctions in the academic year 2025, recognizing their excellence and encouraging continued dedication. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Prof. Rani Paul, Vice-Principal. The ceremony concluded with the felicitation of the dignitaries as a mark of respect and appreciation.
