REPORT ON WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY CELEBRATION – 2025
The world no tobacco day is celebrated on 31st may of each year. The theme for world no tobacco day 2025 is “ unmasking the appeal; exposing industry tactics on tobacco and nicotine products” the theme focused on how tobacco companies manipulate young people with flavoured products and alternative packages.
Vydehi institute of nursing sciences and research centre conducted the world no tobacco day on 31st May 2025, under the guidance of Dr. Prof.Jasmine Joseph, principal , VINS & RC , from 10 am to 12 Noon at kannamangala, rural community area, Bangalore. The programme was organized by prof. Nandhini and Mrs. Bhagyalakshmi, Mrs. Ushasree, Mrs. Nivedita and Mrs. Deepa, Department of community health nursing along with 1st year GNM nursing students of VINS & RC. The student conducted a mime performance for rural community area, kannamangala to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and Nicotine products.

The students performed a mime act which highlight the theme, using gestures and facial expressions to convey the messages
- Awareness generation:-
The event aim to educate the rural community about the dangers of tobacco and nicotine products, particularly their appeal to young people
- Community engagement:-
The performance encouraged audience participation, fostering a sense of community participation and promoting healthy behaviours
Key messages:
Through creative and effective posters, students convey audience on;
Tobacco companies use of manipulative product designs, attractive flavours and glamorized marketing strategies to create a false sense of security and evoke desirability. Nicotine and tobacco products are highly addictive’s and harmful to health.
The event likely contributed to increased awareness about tobacco control and importance of protecting young people from industry manipulation on tobacco products by engaging with the rural community.
The students helped to promote a healthy behaviour and encouraged individual to make informed Choices about tobacco use and quit tobacco usage for overall well being
